ABOUT OUR FOUNDER
ALEXANDRA HOWELL
Alexandra Howell is a practicing labor and employment attorney, adjunct professor, and workforce consultant. Born and raised in New York, she is fully committed to the viability of the region. She believes that collaborative partnerships between labor organizations, non-profits, government, and businesses are necessary to effect real change. This philosophy serves as a guidepost for all of her projects.
Alexandra began her career in organized labor nearly two decades ago. As a research analyst for the Long Island Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO, she worked to build coalitions of unions, non-profits and government agencies looking to secure sustainable economic development. The relationships she built there and later as a labor and employment attorney, have continued to guide her thoughtful, collaborative approach to crafting consulting solutions.
Alexandra has developed and taught undergraduate and law school courses, as well as seminars and trainings for small and large organizations. She is an engaging and dynamic public speaker with experience creating learning content for all audiences.
Alexandra has also been a practicing attorney for more than a decade. She began her legal career as a trial attorney with the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office. Today, her law practice with a large virtual law firm is national in scope and focused on conducting employment and Title IX investigations. She also provides advice and counsel to unions, businesses, and organizations regarding human resource matters.
She uses her experience as a litigator to understand and remedy complex issues within organizations including discrimination, sexual harassment, sexual assault, pay disparities, and other ethics and compliance concerns. Alexandra also represents labor unions in collective bargaining and labor disputes.
In 2018, Alexandra launched a non-profit organization, Advancing Local Leadership Opportunities for Women, Inc. (A.L.L.O.W.). She currently serves as the organization’s president. A.L.L.O.W. connects working women to address their unique challenges in the organized workforce.
Alexandra graduated magna cum laude from the State University of New York at New Paltz. She graduated from the City University of New York School of Law, where she served on the New York City Law Review and earned Charles H. Revson and Brandeis Association scholarships. She lives on Long Island with her husband and two sons. When she’s not working or chasing her children around, she enjoys exercising, going to restaurants, playing golf, and relaxing on the beach in the summer.
